M. Frances Ryan

Biography

Wusinich & Sweeney, LLC, is pleased to welcome Franny Ryan as a Partner.

Ms. Ryan is a seasoned litigator and advisor with decades of experience in state and federal courts. Her practice focuses on employment law and civil litigation, including class actions, discrimination matters, non-compete and trade secret litigation and other contract and commercial disputes. Ms. Ryan, a former partner in a major international law firm, has represented clients in class actions and mass tort matters in state and federal courts. She has achieved favorable results for clients in cases alleging race harassment and discrimination, violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act, sex harassment and discrimination, age discrimination, disability discrimination and other areas of employment law. Ms. Ryan has conducted numerous labor arbitrations. Ms. Ryan has substantial experience litigating emergency injunction matters in courts around the United States. Ms. Ryan has extensive first chair experience trying cases before juries, judges, and arbitrators.

A former six year Hearing Committee Member for the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, Ms. Ryan also represents attorneys in Pennsylvania disciplinary board matters.

Ms. Ryan grew up in Scranton, Pennsylvania and attended the University of Scranton, B.A. 1988, summa cum laude. She is a graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, J.D. 1991 With Honors, where she was a member of the University of Chicago Law Review. She clerked for Hon. Franklin Van Antwerpen of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 1991 to 1992. Ms. Ryan then joined Dechert LLP in Philadelphia, where she was elected a partner. Past clients include The Boeing Company, Siemens Medical, Philadelphia Newspapers, The Travelers Companies, 3M, and Glaxo SmithKline, PriceWaterhouse Coopers and Consolidated Rail.

Since Governor Wolf’s Order changing Chester County to green status, Wusinich & Sweeney, LLC is open for business. We are making every endeavor to keep our clients safe. If you would like to interact mainly by remote means, we can facilitate your request. Also, we have modified our office pursuant to the below COVID-19 safety plan to keep our clients as safe as possible.

COVID-19 SAFETY PLAN

FOR WUSINICH & SWEENEY, LLC

  1. Check all people’s temperatures upon entrance. Deny entrance to anyone with a fever. Inform visitors that we regret that the law requires us to deny entry to people with fevers or other symptoms, and the firm will schedule a telephone or video visit promptly.
  2. Any persons with symptoms (fever, coughing) should stay home.
  3. Stagger work/meeting times to minimize number of persons in the office at once.
  4. All employees and visitors must wear masks except when office is empty or when sitting at own desk.
  5. Make soap and water and hand sanitizer available for all.
  6. All employees and visitors must maintain social distancing while in building.
  7. Use plastic sneeze guards at front desk and in conference room.
  8. IN CASE OF EXPOSURE TO PERSON WITH PROBABLE OR CONFIRMED CASE OF COVID-19:
    1. Close off areas visited by infected person.
    2. Open outside doors and windows and use fans, if possible, to circulate air.
    3. Wait 24 hours or as long as practical and then clean and sanitize all affected areas.
    4. Identify people who were in close contact (within six feet for more than ten minutes) and follow CDC guidelines.
